Every Wednesday, ‘Roll-A-Cover Uncovered’ spotlights a favorite Roll-A-Cover project.
Garden City, NY – This week’s “Roll-A-Cover Uncovered” is coming to you from the Adelphi University Retractable Observatory in Garden City, NY! During the summer, few things are as breathtaking as looking up at a clear sky full of stars at night. The Adelphi University telescope can align and focus on 145,000 celestial objects or take observers on a guided tour of the best celestial objects to view on any given night.
Adelphi University commissioned Roll-A-Cover to remove its 3 existing fixed skylights and manufacture and install one new motorized retractable skylight, one fixed skylight, and one flat fixed skylight. Gerard Tangredi, Associate Director of Facilities Planning, Construction and Design at Adelphi University had wonderful things to say about the products. “The fact that these units were designed and installed in a building that is almost 100 years old with very few problems is a testimony to the workmanship,” Tangredi stated. These Roll-A-Cover skylights protect the telescope and other equipment year-round and allows students to easily use the equipment with the push of a button! Tangredi added, “The skylights create a very bright work place for the students.” Happy stargazing!
